Year of Version 1995 Dates Amended up to: January 11, 1995 Entry into force: May 25, 1853 Adopted: May 1, 1853 Type of Text Constitution/Basic Law Subject Matter Other Notes The Constitution of Argentina was adopted on May 1, 1853 and has been amended many times starting in 1860. This consolidated version of the Constitution takes into account amendments up to the Constitutional Reform of 1994 that was approved on August 24, 1994, and entered into force on January 11, 1995, one day after its publication on January 10, 1995 in the Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina by means of Law No. 24.430 of January 3, 1995. The Constitutional Reform of 1994 includes all the amendments provided in Law 24. 309 of December 29, 1993, Declaring the Necessity of the Constitutional Reform, which was published on December 31, 1993. This consolidated Constitution contains provisions relating to the protection of patents and copyrights. Article 17 of Chapter I under the First Part stipulates '...Every author or inventor is the exclusive owner of the work, invention, or discovery for the term granted by law...’. Article 75(19) of Chapter IV, First Division, Title I under the Second Part empowers the Congress to “enact laws protecting the cultural identity and plurality, the free creation and circulation of artistic works of authors, the artistic heritage and places devoted to cultural and audiovisual activities”.
