Year of Version 2018 Dates Adopted: December 4, 2002 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Trademarks, Geographical Indications, Trade Names, Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Traditional Cultural Expressions, Traditional Knowledge (TK), IP Regulatory Body Notes This consolidated version of the Trade Marks Act 2002 takes into account amendments up the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership Amendment Act 2018, which entered into force on different dates.

Part 10 of the said amending Act introduced amendments, which entered into force on December 30, 2018 to the following provisions of Part 4 entitled 'Legal proceedings' of this consolidated version:
1) Part 4, Subpart 1, part 'Types of relief available for infringement', section 106(2) & section 108(3) (inserted);
2) Part 4, Subpart 3:
- Under part 'Interpretation', section 135 (amended);
- Under part 'Detention of goods suspected of bearing infringing sign' (heading inserted) and sections 135A & 135B(inserted);
- Under part 'Investigation where notice of infringing sign', section 142 (replaced), section 143 (amended);
- Under part 'Detention of goods bearing infringing sign', sections 149(1)(c), 149(1)(e), 150(a) & 151(1) (amended);
- Under part 'Proceedings relating to goods bearing infringing sign', section 153(1) (replaced) and section 154(1), (3A), (4) (amended, inserted and replaced); and
- Under part 'Delegation of chief executive’s powers, duties, and functions', section 157(1) (amended).
