'The Law:
• provides new definition of the terms 'geographical indications', 'appellations of origin';
• specifies the conditions for granting legal protection to geographical indications and the grounds (reasons) for refusing such protection;
• determines the conditions for granting legal protection to homonymous geographical indications;
• specify the number of persons who are entitled to register the geographical indications;
• reviews the requirements for the application for registration;
• improves the procedure for examining applications for geographical indications;
• determines the requirements for the specifications to be met by the goods for which the indication is sought;
• clarifies the scope of rights and obligations arising from the registration of geographical indications.'
