The notification by Ghana to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The current patent legislation makes provision for original registration of patents upon satisfaction of the criteria of absolute novelty, inventive step, and industrial application.
The law also establishes a system of utility certificates to encourage local inventiveness.
Ghana has joined the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and this law makes provision for international application.' The Law has been repealed by the Patent Act of 2003.
