Year of Version 2014 Dates Entry into force: June 4, 2014 Adopted: May 21, 2012 Type of Text Implementing Rules/Regulations Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), IP Regulatory Body Notes This consolidated version of the Regulation on Patents No. 477/2012 includes all amendments up to the Regulation No. 938/2013. The Regulation is structured into XII Chapters and provide for the application and granting of a patent (Chapters II & III); opposition proceedings (Chapter IV); deposit of biological materials pursuant to Article 8(6) of the Patents Act; receiving of international patent applications due to Article 28 of the Patents Act (Chapter VI);European patent applications and patents (Chapter VII). Chapter VIII makes provisions on the supplementary protection for medical products and plant protection products and refers to the Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1768/92, concerning the creation of supplementary protection certificate for medicinal products and European Parliament and Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1610/96 concerning the creation of a supplementary protection certificate for plant protection products. Chapter IX deals with the change of applicant and patent holder and Chapter X provides for the register of patents. Chapter XI makes provisions on notifications from the Icelandic Patent Office and Chapter XII contains miscellaneous provisions.
