Year of Version 2003 Dates Adopted: November 15, 2003 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Other Notes This Law is issued by the President of the State of the UAE.
It provides for the establishment of a Supreme Committee for the Supervision of the Telecommunication Sector. It has the exclusive authority to, among others, monitor the general policy of the telecommunication sector, to adopt rules and regulations, to issue or revoke licenses and determine the fees of the services and facilities provided to licensees (Articles 2 and 3).
It also provides for the creation of an independent public authority, called “General authority for Regulating the Telecommunication Sector” which has a legal personality (Art. 6 & 7).
