The Act amends Section 1 of the Act 11 of 1967 relating to the definitions of “collecting society” and “literary and artistic works”; Section 4 relating to the extension of protection of performer’s rights to performances in certain countries which are members of the World Trade Organization; Section 5 relating to the restrictions on use of performances; and Section 8 of the said Act (as amended by Section 22 of the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment Act 38 of 1997), relating to the restrictions on exceptions from prohibition against use of performances by the broadcasters without the consent of the performers.
